In order to improve the skills of teachers and laboratory assistants in Indonesia, we had a training in the field of Biology. The training in the theme of "Microscope Usage, Care, and Maintenance Training" was carried out March 29, 2014, with Kusnadi, M.Sc. as the speaker. The event was attended by participants from various areas including Jakarta, Cirebon, Bandung, Sukabumi, and Cimahi.
In this training, participants were invited to conduct experiments related to the microscope that include:
- Observing protozoa in water
- Creating and observing the smear of red and white blood
- Creating and observing the simple coloring of lactobacillus and rhizobium bacteria
- Creating and observing negative staining of bacteria
- Observing the saccharomyces of yeast cultures
- The introduction and use of multimedia microscope
- Observing various kinds of stomata in plants
In addition to miceoscope usage, participants - who were very enthusiastic in following the step by step training activities - were also invited to identify the parts of the microscope and its maintenance, from the proper microscope storage to cleaning the dirty lens.
